This directory contains a simple hello program which can be compiled
and executed using PGI's HPF compiler, pghpf. Assuming that pghpf is
installed correctly, you should be able to type "make" and watch the
program execute to completion.

To execute on varying numbers of processors, set the RUNARGS variable on
the make command line. For example:

  % make RUNARGS="-pghpf -np 6"

will cause hello to be executed on six processors.

Note that only one "hello" is printed no matter how many processors
you run on. You can verify that the program is executing on multiple
processors by setting the environment variable PGHPF_STAT:

  % setenv PGHPF_STAT alls

This environment variable is documented more thoroughly in the user's
guide supplied with this software.

To execute using a communication protocol other than the default, set the
EXTRA_LDFLAGS variable on the make command line. For example:

  % make clean
  % make EXTRA_LDFLAGS="-Hpvm"

will cause pde1 to be executed using PVM. Note that you must have PVM
running or you will get a runtime error message.
